National Vocational Certificate in Business Services (Level 1 - 4) (Office Administration): In level 1 this qualification recognizes people who have the competencies required for performing basic office administration tasks. It is awarded to people who have demonstrated the skills and knowledge required to perform basic office administration tasks, perform basic computer operations in an office environment; apply fundamental communication and numeracy competencies in performing office administration duties; and demonstrate knowledge of HIV and AIDS and entrepreneurships.
The qualification starts from level 1 – 4 whereby in level 4 the qualification is awarded or recognises people who have the competencies required for performing office administration tasks. Welding and Metal Fabrication - NQF Levels: Level 1 to Level 3
Welding and Metal Fabrication has to do with working with many different types of products made of metal. Fabrication work involves, selecting the correct material, inspecting blueprints, making sketches, and following verbal instructions.
The most typical type of welding is arc welding, in which two metal clops are attached a section of the work piece and to the thin welding rod, when the two touch, it creates a powerful electrical current that melts them together. The other two common types of welding are Gas Tungsten Arch (TIG) and Gas Metal Arc (MIG). TIG is used for aluminium and stainless steel, while MIG utilizes a continuous spool of a wire to join long stretches of metal.

Bricklaying and Plastering - NQF Levels: Level 1 to Level 4
Bricklaying and Plastering involves laying bricks to construct brickwork. They use materials such as solid bricks, hollow concrete blocks, structural tiles, natural artificial stones and pre-fabricated masonry panels. When bricklayer begins a project, they first study the blue prints and then determine the brick layout by placing them in a ‘dry course’ a process that involves no mortar. They must plan the layout so that, if multiple layers of brick are used, none of the joint overlap. Bricklayers use variety of tools such as trowels, jointers, hummers, rulers, chisels, squares and mallets.

Joinery and Cabinet Making - NQF Levels: Level 1 to Level 3
Joiners and Cabinet makers manufacture all the woodwork that is necessary for comfort as well as for ornamental purposes in building, such as windows, doors and counters. They examine plans, sketches, drawings and specification to determine job requirements and select and measure appropriate kinds of wood, cutting and shaping the material with hand tools or woodworking machines to from suitable units for assembling.
They also decorate furniture and fixtures by inlaying wood, applying veneer, carving and turning designs. Joiners and cabinet makers, fabricate tables, chairs, drawers, trays, beds and other furniture for house interiors. They also perfume decorative work in houses and premises, setting up shelves and equipping build- in compartments and wardrobes.
Typical tasks include preparing wood and wood-substitutes to be cut by measuring and marking them according to instructions from a supervisor or a blueprint, and cutting materials and shaping/smoothing them using specialist tools. They work with a range of tools including augers and drills for boring holes; saws and chisels for cutting; rulers, squares, levels and compasses for measuring; plumb-bobs to give a straight line; clamps for fastening; and grindstones, sandpaper and files for sharpening and smoothing.
