Sinzongoro Combined School situated 45 kilos outside Rundu town had an opportunity to receive visitors from Rundu Vocational Training Centre (RVTC) on 13 October 2021. On invitation by the school management, RVTC didn’t hesitate to engage into an overdrive to visit the school.
Upon arrival at the school, the RVTC team was welcomed by the School Principal Mr. Sikongo. In his welcoming remarks, Sikongo encouraged the learners to listen and ask questions after the presentation. “Vocational Education is the way to go if you want a better life” added Sikongo.
RVTC was given a chance to present the programs being run at the Centre. Mr. Raphael Haingura who is the chairperson of the registration committee informed the school learners about the importance of Technical Vocational Education and Training. The veteran in TVET Haingura explained all the eleven courses RVTC is offering as well as the requirements. In his presentation, he touched more on the importance of choosing the trade of your choice rather than copying from friends. “VTC should not be an option, it should be a choice” added Haingura.
Learners were given a chance to ask questions for clarity and better understanding of TVET. RVTC’s Haingura, answered all questions and he was happy to hear the future leaders asking about accreditation of the institution. “Make sure that the institution you want to study is accredited with NQA before you spend money to that institution” elaborated Haingura.
Closing the career guidance program was the acting life skill teacher who encouraged the learners to visit RVTC and see with their own eyes what was explained. Teachers at Sinzongoro are also urging RVTC to introduce short courses for the working class in technical trades.
