Counselling is an activity needed for each and every human being especially when your work demands. Emotional wellness contributes to the best outcome of the results in a training environment. This was fully explained when RVTC staff members had a counselling program on the 17th of June 2022. The event was attended by all staff members and was regarded as educative as it helped many to understand that there are things we can control and things we can’t control.
The event was organized by the welfare committee and the host was Mrs. Simbaranda. In her welcoming remarks the committee chairperson Ms. Jennety Joba encouraged the staff members to open up and share in the discussion. “Creating a healthy mindset is an investment in your overall wellbeing” added Joba.
Mrs. Simbaranda gave her presentation in a discussion format where staff members were involved and getting to understand their situations. Causes of stress was also part of the presentation where staff members were informed on causes of stress. It was surprising to many to understand that stress can also cause gastric. Emphasis were put on informing the staff and understanding that there are things which they can’t control and things which they can control. An example was given that you can’t control other people’s feelings towards you. Accepting the situation is a remedy. Alcohol and drug usage is not the answer to release stress and emotions.
In his closing remarks, the acting Centre Manager Raphael Haingura summarized the presentation by reminding the staff that they are needed hence they are valued. “We still need you because of your value” added Haingura.
The event was closed with the best tea break to give no room for stress.
