BATTLE FOR TVET TRAINING

It is that time of the year again when training providers prepare for 2023 academic year intake, Rundu VTC January 2023 applications closed on the 07th of September 2022, a total 553 application forms were received for the following Trades Electrical General, Auto Mechatronic & Plumbing and Pipefitting, however only 273 applicants met the requirements.  The 273 applicants were invited for an aptitude test on Tuesday, 18 October 2022, only those who will perform well will be admitted for 2023 Academic year.

The high number of applicants to study at RVTC, affirms our slogan, that RVTC is indeed a the sought after VTC in Namibia, Say Mr. Lukas (Centre Manager), and also its shows that there is a paradigm shift among the youth, in terms of career path, they have realized that TVET is the backbone for the country economic prosperity.

As for 280 applicants did meet the minimum requirements such as Grade 10 (23 Points): E in English, Physical and Mathematics, and Grade 11 or 12 (20 points): F in English, Physical Science and Mathematics. The prospective applicants are advised to read the requirements on the application forms before applying, as the selection criteria is strictly based on minimum requirement.

Those who passed the aptitude test will be informed shortly, and expected to start their training January 2023 on the date to be communicated. The registration committee is hard at work to ensure that all principles of admission are adhered to. On the question of why only three trades for 2023 the chairperson of the Committee Austin Siluwe explained that some of the trades were already taken this academic year 2022 meaning the VET Trainers are occupied. “Our committee works hand in hand with the training department and we get the information on which trade to register from the training division” added Siluwe.

For now, it’s all system go for RVTC.
