RVTC HOSTS ITS FIRST – EVER INNOVATION WEEK

Rundu VTC hosted the first-ever Innovation and Entrepreneurship week from 28 June till the 01st of July 2022. The day which started with the matching in town under the escort of Namibian Police’s Traffic department, was aimed at showing what Rundu VTC can contribute to the world of technology. The matching was ear marked to inform the community about the event.

The TRC (Trainee Representative Council) Stanny Falulo addressed the gathering by reminding them on the importance of TVET. Entrepreneurship was on his agenda as well. “Understanding the operations of entrepreneurship is vital. Let’s get the principles of it” said Stanny. Bernhard Mudumbin a graduate of RVTC and a business man motivated the trainees in regards to business. His address put more efforts on discipline before you start thinking of making big money. The event was coupled together with entrepreneurship where various groups of trainees were engaged in business of selling different types of foods and RVTC made tools.

Opening the event officially on the 29th of June 2022 was the Regional Governor of Kavango East region who assured the Centre on his support towards TVET. Honorable Bonifatius Wakudumo informed the audience that his office will continue strengthening TVET for Vision 2030 to be realized. He also pleaded with the government to invest more on Vocational Education. His call to make Rundu VTC the first Technical College in Namibia after former Polytechnic upgraded to a University status was applauded by the gathering. “We don’t want to send our kids to South Africa after 32 years of Independence to go do level 5 & 6. Let RVTC be upgraded so that they should train from level 4 – 6” added the regional Governor.

RVTC’s Centre Manager Kornelius Lukas gave the over view of the project which saw Eric Tjandja hall packed. “Innovation is the world of technical and vocational education and training. Bridging Innovation and training in TVET. We are the sought after VTC. Innovation and the future of TVET can’t be separated” said Lukas. He also emphasized on the theme of “Bridging innovation and training in TVET”

The delegates toured the stands and were very impressed. The official opening was attended by captains of industries, school principals, financial institutions and other training providers like Ngato International University.
